Plan of the Day - Tuesday Sep 6, 2011
"Early Bird Day"
1200 - Rich Talipsky, Bob and Carla Gerle, Gary Parker and Mike and Tracy Hacking set up the hospitality room and the reunion was officially underway,
Plan of the Day - Wed Sep 7, 2011
"Aloha Day"
1200 -2200 Independent Units Started to arrive at Homeport 2011 as the Main Reunion Force was assembled.
0900 -2200 Combined Mess (Hospitality Suite) was open for discussion and libation
1530 - Troop Transport (Bus) departed for the Foxwoods Casino. They returned to hotel about 2345 (most of them albeit with lessmoney than they went with.). Alhad a great time.
Plan of the Day - Thursday Sep 8
"Submarine Day"
0945 - The bus departed for Mystic, CT in the pouring rain.
1100 - Bright sunshine arrives as teh bus arrived Olde Mystic Village for Shopping and Lunch
1220 - The bus departed Mystic Village for Submarine Museum
Tour of USS Nautilus and Submarine Museum
1245 VADM Nicholson and CAPT McBride made a special presentation to Submarine Museum of a piece of decking fromthe Sargo that was rescued from the dumpster by Rich Talipsky during the 1974 overhaul at Pearl Harbor.
1300-1530 Tours of Museum
1300-1530 We were shuttled to Submarine Tour on the Virginia Class submarine USS New Hampshire (SSN 778) required)
1600 - The Bus departedSubmarine Museum for Hotel
1645 - The bus arrived at at the Hotel and we went to dinner in our own small groups.
Plan of the Day - Friday Sep 9
"Battleship Day"
A Day at Battleship Cove
All Day -self-guided tours of Battleship USS Massachusetts and associated exhibits (Destroyer Kennedy, submarine, Russian patrol craft and PT boats).
Other nearby attractions. There are many attractions to be seen outside the cove attractions as well as at the cove.(Marine museum, railroad museums, etc.) that can be visited for a small extra fee.
There was a special no-host Lunch Buffet for attendees at the Waterstreet Cafe.
1730 - Captain's Buffet aboard USS Massachusetts - Wardroom.
1930 - Return Troop Transports (buses) to Hotel
Plan of the Day - Saturday,Sep 10
"City by the Sea Day"
Sargo Association Meeting
1000 - We muster for USS Sargo Association Meeting at the hotel.
1500 - Buses departed for Clambake
The bus went via Newport's 12 mile scenic Ocean Drive
1700 - 1930 - New England Clambake. Atlantic Beach Club,Newport, RI
1930 Bus departed the Clambake for Hotel
Plan of the Day - Sunday, Sep 11
"Aloha Day"
The Main Reunion Force dispersed. Reunion Units got underway per individual unit MOVORDs to next ports of call. Units steaming in formation followed MOVORDs issued by the OTC of each group.
